Barbara Lloyd is a Dog Behaviourist who lives in Regina, Saskatchewan with her husband, their seven dogs and is the owner of “The Dog’s Den Training School”. Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Philosophy from Luther College at the University of Regina. She inherited a great love of dogs from her father, Ken Lloyd, and was taught respect for all living creatures from her mom, Betty Lloyd.
Barbara revolutionized dog training in Regina, Saskatchewan by being the first to offer Manners classes instead of obedience classes, thus proving to be the leader of the pack in local dog culture. She forever changed how dog training is done in Regina by rejecting harsh coercion and punishment based training methods and instead chooses to train dogs with compassion and applied learning theory. Not only is Barbara the head of the pack in her pack of eight dogs, she is also at the head of the pack of dog trainers internationally.
Barbara attributes much of her Canine Behavioural Knowledge to having had the privilege of raising and training several breeds. Four of Barbara’s current seven dogs were adopted from the Regina Humane Society: Daisy, a 10 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Isis, a 7 year old Husky, Nakita, a 7 year old Husky and Artemis, a 7 year old Briard. Barbara’s approach to dog training is rooted in the belief that learning can only be facilitated when a trust relationship has been established between guardian and dog. Her skills and abilities are recognized by both municipal and Court of Queen’s Bench, veterinarians, breeders and trainers across Canada, Germany and the United States.
